OCC High School Basketball - Week 7 Recap

Week 7 in OCC High School Basketball delivered fireworks at the top of the standings and statement performances across the board, tightening the race behind the unbeaten Jazz while reshuffling the middle of the table.

The Jazz remained perfect at 7–0, grinding out a 43–38 win over the Pacers. In a defensive battle, Peyton Hamilton led the way with 12 points, while Ty Boultinghouse added 8. Spencer Byrne scored 23 of the Pacers’ 38 points in a standout individual effort, but the Jazz closed strong to preserve their undefeated season.

The Celtics kept pace at 6–1 with a 54–41 win over the 76ers. Gabe Hoak poured in 19 points and Taylor Hoak added 17 as the Celtics controlled the tempo throughout. Aiden Kopczynski led the 76ers with 15, but the Celtics’ balance proved too much.

Matching the Celtics at 6–1, the Bucks secured a 47–38 victory over the Rockets. Hunter Webb led the Bucks with 18 points, supported by Logan Hamilton’s 10. Logan Cantrell scored 13 for the Rockets, who dropped to 4–3 but remain in the thick of the playoff race.

The most explosive performance of the week came from the Pelicans, who erupted for a 100–60 win over the Lakers. James Edwards delivered 37 points in a dominant showing, while Cruse Edwards added 26 and Brody White chipped in 27. The Pelicans improved to 3–4, while the Lakers fell to 1–6 despite 22 points from Braxton McLimore and 19 from Jayden Guadarrama.

The Nets also made a statement, defeating the Suns 87–50 behind a 30-point performance from Christian Perez. Tyler Allison scored 18, and both Wesley Padgett and Kolbe Reffitt added 17 as Brooklyn posted its most complete offensive outing of the season. The Suns dropped to 1–6 despite 13 points from Jacob Reynolds.

After seven weeks, the standings show the Jazz alone at the top at 7–0. The Celtics and Bucks sit just behind at 6–1, keeping pressure on first place. The Rockets (4–3) and Pelicans (3–4) headline the middle tier, while the Pacers evened out at 3–4. The 76ers and Nets are 2–5, and the Lakers and Suns sit at 1–6 as the postseason push begins to take shape.

Individually, several players delivered major scoring nights in Week 7. James Edwards’ 37-point outburst led all scorers, while Christian Perez’s 30-point effort powered the Nets. Spencer Byrne’s 23-point game accounted for more than half of the Pacers’ offense, and Hunter Webb continued his consistent production with 18 in the Bucks’ win.

With only a few weeks remaining in the regular season, every possession grows more important. The Jazz remain the team to beat — but the Celtics and Bucks are within striking distance, setting up a compelling stretch run in OCC High School Basketball.
