Owensboro Catholic rolls past Apollo 64-34 to reach district title game

Owensboro Catholic punched its ticket back to the 9th District Championship on Monday night with a commanding 64–34 victory over Apollo in the district tournament at Daviess County High School.

The Lady Aces (22–8 entering the game) set the tone immediately, racing out to an early double-digit advantage and never allowing Apollo (4–21 entering the game) to find consistent rhythm offensively. Catholic’s defensive pressure created early scoring opportunities and helped build separation before halftime.

Senior standout Taylor Mannahan sparked the surge in the opening quarter, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc and pouring in 11 first-quarter points. She finished with a game-high 18 points to lead all scorers.

From there, Owensboro Catholic maintained control on both ends of the floor. The Lady Aces limited second-chance opportunities, forced turnovers, and consistently converted in transition. By the fourth quarter, the outcome was firmly in hand as Catholic secured the 30-point win.

With the victory, Owensboro Catholic advances to the 9th District Championship and also locks in a berth in the 3rd Region Tournament.
