OWENSBORO, KY — A disciplined approach at the plate and a breakout performance from H. Sikes powered the Owensboro Lady Devils to a 13-7 win over Edmonson County on Thursday.

Sikes was nearly perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple, double, and single while also swiping two bases to lead the offensive charge.

Edmonson County jumped out early, taking advantage of control issues in the first inning. Drawing multiple walks, they pushed across two runs without recording a hit to take a 2-0 lead.

Owensboro answered immediately.

J. Sanford delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the first, and defensive miscues by Edmonson County allowed the Lady Devils to tie the game at 2-2. Sanford struck again in the second inning with a clutch RBI double, giving Owensboro its first lead at 3-2—a lead they would not give back.

Owensboro continued to apply pressure, capitalizing on errors in the third and adding another run in the fourth when Sikes tripled and later scored.

Edmonson County made a push in the fifth, cutting the deficit to 5-4 behind timely hitting, but Owensboro responded with authority.

The Lady Devils broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings, combining for eight runs. I. Allgood delivered a key two-RBI single, while patience at the plate led to a string of bases-loaded walks. Owensboro finished the night with eight walks, consistently forcing Edmonson County into tough situations.

Allgood and Sanford each drove in three runs, highlighting a balanced offensive attack.

In the circle, R. Scott earned the win, allowing just two runs over four innings while striking out three. K. Hughes provided relief, helping secure the victory despite a late push from Edmonson County in the seventh.

Edmonson County showed resilience, tallying seven runs on eight hits, with multiple players recording multi-hit performances. However, seven defensive errors proved costly and ultimately too much to overcome.

Owensboro totaled nine hits and five stolen bases, using both aggression and discipline to control the game from the middle innings on.

The Lady Devils will look to carry that momentum into their next matchup against Henderson County.
