Apollo Falls to Mater Dei Despite 18-Save Effort From Tinley

OWENSBORO, KY — Apollo High School faced a difficult test Thursday night, falling 8-0 to Evansville Mater Dei at Apollo High School Field.
The Eagles entered the match 1-7-0 and were unable to find the back of the net, with their lone recorded offensive statistic coming from freshman Millie Hill, who finished with one shot and one shot on goal.
Despite the final score, Apollo goalkeeper Hagan Tinley kept working throughout the match, making 18 saves against Mater Dei. Tinley finished the night with a .692 save percentage.
The loss moves Apollo to 1-8-0 on the season.
Through the Eagles’ first nine games, Tinley has recorded 138 saves, while Apollo has scored 12 goals as a team.
Apollo will have another opportunity against a local opponent Tuesday, Sept. 8, when the Eagles travel to Owensboro High School for a 7 p.m. matchup at the Owensboro High School Athletic Complex Soccer/Lacrosse Field.
