Apollo Remains Unbeaten With Four-Set Win Over Logan County

 

RUSSELLVILLE, KY — Apollo High School’s perfect start to the volleyball season continued Thursday night.

The Eagles improved to 13-0 with a four-set victory over Logan County, winning 25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17 at the Logan County Aux Gym.

Apollo controlled the opening two sets, taking a 2-0 lead before Logan County answered in the third. The Eagles responded in the fourth, closing out the match and keeping their undefeated record intact.

The win adds another result to what has been an impressive opening stretch for Apollo. Entering Thursday’s match at 12-0, the Eagles have yet to suffer a loss this season.

Apollo has also been productive offensively through its first 11 matches, recording 351 kills on 1,060 attacks for a .165 team hitting percentage. Savannah Denson leads the team with a .257 hitting percentage, while Avery Gray has recorded a team-high 141 kills.

The Eagles will look to keep the perfect record intact Saturday when they face Bowling Green at 8 p.m. at Elizabethtown High School.

Logan County, which entered the match 7-3, will host Russellville on Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
