Daviess County Takes Control Early, Shuts Out Madisonville-North Hopkins 3-0

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Daviess County took control early and never gave Madisonville-North Hopkins a chance to recover Monday night, scoring three times before halftime on the way to a 3-0 non-district victory at Deer Park Field.
The Panthers opened the scoring on a free kick from senior Ethan Dailey, then added to their advantage when sophomore Parker Shepherd finished a chance assisted by senior Graham Robinson.
Daviess County’s third goal came on another free kick late in the first half. With senior Bennett Rhoads positioned behind the ball, Daviess County used a designed play that saw #36 run over the ball before Rhoads stepped in and fired the shot into the net.
The three-goal cushion gave the Panthers control heading into halftime, and they maintained that advantage throughout the second half.
Madisonville-North Hopkins never found the breakthrough it needed. Daviess County nearly added a fourth goal in the closing minutes, but a shot struck the right post with approximately two minutes remaining.
The result moves Daviess County to 4-1-1 on the season while the Panthers remain 1-0 in district play.
Daviess County returns Thursday, August 20, when the Panthers face Owensboro at the Owensboro High School Athletic Complex. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Final: Daviess County 3, Madisonville-North Hopkins 0
