Kentucky Wesleyan Tennis Duo Earns Bid to Inaugural Division II National Championships

OWENSBORO, KY — Kentucky Wesleyan College men’s tennis players Illia Dobrovolsky and Cameron Middleton have earned an at-large bid to the inaugural ITA Division II Singles & Doubles National Championships, placing the Panthers among the nation’s top 32 doubles teams.

The duo will compete Nov. 4-8 at the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, representing Kentucky Wesleyan on the national stage.

Dobrovolsky and Middleton secured their national opportunity after a strong performance at the ITA Division II Midwest Regional Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The pair advanced to the Flight A Doubles semifinals, defeating the tournament’s No. 1 seeds from Wayne State and No. 8 seeds from McKendree by identical 8-6 scores.

Those victories demonstrated the Panthers’ ability to compete against top doubles teams in the region and helped put them in contention for a national championship opportunity.

The 2026 tournament marks the first year of the ITA Division II Singles & Doubles National Championships, expanding individual championship opportunities for Division II student-athletes. Division II is the only NCAA division without an NCAA-sponsored individual singles and doubles championship.

Hosted in partnership with Visit Tuscaloosa, the five-day event will feature top singles players and doubles teams from across Division II.

Dobrovolsky and Middleton will look to carry their fall momentum into Tuscaloosa as they compete for a national championship Nov. 4-8.
