Mustangs Run Away With 10-2 Win Over Apollo

March 12, 2026 – Apollo High School
The McCracken County Varsity Mustangs showcased their offensive firepower Thursday evening, taking down the Apollo Varsity Eagles 10-2 in a high-scoring showdown.
Apollo struck first in the bottom of the opening inning when Lillpop delivered a sacrifice fly, putting the Eagles on the board. McCracken County responded quickly in the second, as Hall’s groundout scored a run to even the score at 1-1.
The Mustangs pulled away in the third inning, highlighted by Reeves’ timely single and a sacrifice fly from Fox, giving McCracken County a 3-1 advantage. From there, the visitors never looked back. Solid hitting, opportunistic base running, and disciplined plate appearances kept the Eagles on their heels.
Reeves led McCracken County with three hits in four at-bats, while Fox added two RBIs. Dugan chipped in with two hits, and the team collectively drew eight walks and stole five bases. On the pitching side, the Mustangs managed to limit big scoring threats despite a few defensive miscues, allowing Apollo just five hits over the course of the game.
Apollo’s offense showed flashes of life, with Burger and Lillpop each driving in a run and Stevens, Gunter, and Taylor contributing hits. But consistent pressure from McCracken County kept the Eagles from mounting a comeback.
With the victory, McCracken County improved to a strong start this season, while Apollo will look to rebound when they face Madisonville-North on March 17.
