Owensboro Catholic kept its postseason momentum rolling Friday night, overpowering Crittenden County 50–14 in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs at Steele Stadium. The Aces exploded out of the gate with a 22-point first quarter, added 21 more in the second, and built a commanding 43–0 lead before the Rockets could get on the board. By halftime, Catholic led 43–7 and had complete control of the game.

The offense once again spread the workload, with six different Aces finding the end zone. Whether it was on the ground or through the air, Catholic consistently finished drives, moving the chains with tempo and rhythm while keeping Crittenden County’s defense on its heels. The defense matched that intensity, forcing quick punts, applying pressure in the backfield, and even adding a safety to the scoring barrage.

Crittenden County’s lone bright spot of the first half came on the final snap before the break, but the deficit was already insurmountable. Catholic’s defense held the Rockets scoreless again in the third quarter, allowing the Aces to extend their lead to 50–7 before the visitors added a late touchdown in the fourth.

Head Coach Jason Morris praised the team’s tone-setting start and overall execution. “This time of year, you want to come out sharp and make a statement early,” Morris said. “Our guys handled the game the right way—fast start, disciplined play, and finishing drives. That’s what playoff football is about.”

With a comfortable cushion, Catholic rotated in younger players throughout the second half, gaining valuable experience while protecting key starters for the deeper rounds ahead. Even with personnel changes, the Aces remained steady, closing out a 50–14 victory with a clean, controlled finish.

The win advances Owensboro Catholic to the Class 2A quarterfinals, where the Aces will host Somerset next week. Morris said the focus remains centered on consistency.

“At this point, every team is good enough to beat you if you lose focus,” he said. “We just need to keep taking care of the small things—effort, discipline, execution. If we do that, we like our chances.”

After back-to-back playoff blowouts, the Aces look every bit like a team built for a deep postseason run.
