Owensboro Catholic Rolls Past Muhlenberg County in Regional Opener

The Owensboro Catholic Aces Baseball wasted little time taking control Monday night, pulling away with a dominant 11-1 victory over the Muhlenberg County Mustangs Baseball in regional tournament action.
After two scoreless innings, the Aces erupted in the bottom of the third and never looked back.
Owensboro Catholic strung together four consecutive singles to open the scoring, beginning with Tucker Evans’ RBI base hit that plated Jude Evans for the game’s first run. Mason Moser followed with an RBI single before Jake Murphy and Jaxson White each delivered run-scoring hits as the Aces exploded for five runs in the inning.
The offensive pressure continued in the fourth.
Jake Murphy drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, White added an RBI after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Mason Russelburg lined a two-run single to center field to stretch the lead to 9-1.
Owensboro Catholic finished the game with 11 runs despite recording only eight hits, taking advantage of walks, hit batters, aggressive baserunning, and multiple Muhlenberg County defensive errors.
White dominated both on the mound and at the plate. The right-hander earned the win after throwing three hitless innings with four strikeouts and no walks. Offensively, he went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Tucker Evans also collected two hits and drove in a run, while Murphy, Moser, and Russelburg each delivered key RBIs during the middle innings.
Muhlenberg County’s lone run came in the fourth inning when Kade Tippett singled home Carver Rice, but the Mustangs struggled to generate offense consistently against Owensboro Catholic pitching.
Gentry Atwell added a strong relief appearance for the Aces, striking out two over a scoreless inning while allowing no hits.
Owensboro Catholic capped the scoring in the sixth inning, pushing the lead to 11-1 and securing the mercy-rule victory to advance deeper into regional tournament play.
