Run for Reform 5K/10K Kicks Off Owensboro’s Local Race Season

The local running season in Owensboro gets underway next weekend as runners and walkers take to campus for the Run for Reform 5K/10K on Saturday, March 21.

Hosted at Kentucky Wesleyan College, the event marks the 3rd annual race organized by the Chad Lake Foundation, bringing the community together for a morning of fitness and purpose.

Both races will start and finish on the Kentucky Wesleyan campus at 3000 Frederica Street, with the 10K beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K starting shortly after at 8:05 a.m.

For many local runners, the race serves as the first opportunity of the year to pin on a bib and hit the road, making it a popular early-season event. The course runs through the Wesleyan campus and surrounding neighborhoods on a flat, fast route, ideal for runners looking to shake off the winter months and start the year strong. The 5K features a single loop, while the 10K covers the course twice.

Beyond the race itself, the event supports an important cause. Proceeds benefit the Chad Lake Foundation and its work providing awareness, resources, and support for individuals and families impacted by incarceration.

Registration is $30 for the 5K and $40 for the 10K, with sign-ups open through March 20 at 11:59 p.m. Race-day registration will also be available at a slightly higher price.

Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners in both races, along with top finishers in several age groups.

With spring around the corner, the Run for Reform offers a chance for the community to get outside, get active, and kick off Owensboro’s race season in a meaningful way.
