Packed Crowds, Championship Moments Define Yellow Banks Shootout in Owensboro

This weekend at the Owensboro Convention Center had a different kind of energy. From early morning tip-offs to late evening championship games, the 2nd Annual Yellow Banks Shootout kept courts full, sidelines crowded, and families locked in every possession. We were there throughout the weekend taking photos, and it was one of those events where there was never a quiet moment.

By the time Championship Sunday arrived, the intensity had built across every division. Games were running nonstop, and each court had its own atmosphere—some loud and emotional, others tense and focused down to the final possessions.

The day started with the 8th grade girls championship, where WeDifferent set the tone early. Roycia earned MVP honors after leading her team to the title. That momentum carried straight into the 11th grade boys game, where Indiana Red finished strong to take the championship, followed by Dreamchasers winning the 10th grade boys title.

As the day moved forward, local teams continued to make their presence felt. OBKY Gators-Revelett claimed the 5th grade boys championship with Rylan earning MVP honors, while TSI captured the 10th/11th grade girls title behind Tiarra’s performance.

One of the most noticeable things throughout the weekend was how active the Owensboro teams were. The Lady Gators especially had a strong showing, winning multiple championships across different age groups. Hallie led the 7th grade girls to a title, while Riley helped secure the 5th grade girls championship. Dynasty Elite also added a 9th grade girls title with Sloan earning MVP honors. The OBKY Gators had 12 teams compete in the tournament and brought home seven championships, one of the strongest showings of the weekend.

In the later games, Kentuckiana All Stars took the 9th grade boys championship, while OBKY Gators Elite added wins in both the 6th and 8th grade boys divisions. The OBKY Gators teams consistently found themselves in big moments all day, closing out games when it mattered most.

By the end of the weekend, the Yellow Banks Shootout had delivered exactly what it’s becoming known for—competitive basketball, packed gyms, and a strong showing from local teams across multiple age groups. Being there for it all made it clear how quickly this event is growing in the region.
