Owensboro Rally Falls Short as Apollo Finishes Strong

OWENSBORO, KY – Apollo used a pair of late-inning home runs and steady offensive pressure to pull away from Owensboro, earning a 9-4 win Friday in varsity softball action.
Owensboro struck first in the opening inning, manufacturing an early run behind disciplined baserunning and timely contact. After Sikes reached on a single and advanced into scoring position, Stallings delivered a key double to bring her home and give Owensboro an early 1-0 lead.
Apollo responded quickly in the bottom half of the inning. A mix of defensive miscues, walks, and situational hitting allowed the Eagles to take control. A sacrifice fly, fielder’s choice, and RBI opportunities helped Apollo push across three runs, flipping the game to a 3-1 lead after one inning.
