The No. 4-ranked Daviess County High School softball team delivered a statement performance Monday night, blanking Owensboro High School 15-0 in the 9th District semifinals at Shifley Park behind a relentless offensive attack and a dominant outing in the circle.
From the first swing, the tone was set.
Molly Hancock set the pace early and never slowed down, going 3-for-4 with a home run, triple, and single while driving in runs and scoring repeatedly as Daviess County overwhelmed the Lady Devils in all three phases of the game.
The opening inning immediately tilted the matchup. A defensive error by Owensboro opened the door, and Hancock made the punishment immediate—launching a two-run home run to center field to give the Lady Panthers a quick 4-0 advantage.
That lead only grew from there.
Daviess County broke the game open in the second inning with a seven-run surge, stacking hits and forcing constant pressure on Owensboro’s defense. Kylie Clark, Annie Newman, Lilah Morris, and Storey Hume all contributed RBI production in a frame that turned the game into a rout before it reached the halfway point.
Hancock stayed at the center of the action, adding a triple in the second inning and another hit in the third, continuing a performance that made her nearly impossible to contain at the plate.
The Lady Panthers added two more runs in the third inning, extending the margin and officially putting the game out of reach.
On the mound, Storey Hume delivered complete control for Daviess County, tossing three shutout innings while striking out six without issuing a walk. The Lady Panthers’ pitching staff combined with a clean defensive effort to keep Owensboro from generating any offensive rhythm.
Daviess County finished with 13 hits and added aggressive base running, stealing four bases to keep pressure on the Lady Devils throughout the game. Morris led the team with three RBIs, while Clark and Hume also turned in multi-hit performances.
Owensboro managed just three hits in the contest as the offense never found traction against Daviess County’s pitching and defensive execution. Gracey Beth Parker, Taylor Sowders, and Ayrish Barksdale each recorded a hit in the loss.
With the win, Daviess County advances to the 9th District championship and continues its dominant season, improving its postseason position with another commanding performance.
