Owensboro, Ky. — Apollo opened the 2026 volleyball season with a 3-1 victory over Greenwood Thursday night at Apollo High School.

The E-Gals entered the season opener at 0-0, while Greenwood came in with a 1-0 record. Apollo took control of the match with a strong opening set, winning 25-22.

Greenwood answered in the second set, taking a 25-20 victory to even the match at 1-1.

Apollo responded in the third set, edging Greenwood 25-23 to regain the lead. The E-Gals then closed out the match in the fourth set, winning 25-20 to secure the 3-1 season-opening victory.

Apollo will return to action Saturday, Aug. 22, when the E-Gals host a three-match tournament.

Apollo will face Warren East in the opening matchup, followed by Warren East against Graves County. Apollo will then face Graves County to close out the tournament.

All three matches will be played at Apollo High School.
