Daviess County brothers Parker and Landon Thompson celebrate after the Panthers won the boys team title at the Mustang Stampede.

GREENVILLE, KY — Daviess County put together a dominant performance in the boys varsity race Saturday morning, placing five runners among the top six finishers to win the team title at the Mustang Stampede at Muhlenberg County Middle School.

The Panthers scored 17 points as a team, finishing well ahead of Henderson County (72) and Christian County (100).

Judson Redfern led the way individually, winning the boys 5K in 16:56.5. Jordan Norris followed in second at 18:01.6, while Landon Thompson finished third in 18:09.7.

Jonah Murphy added a fifth-place finish in 18:32.5, and eighth-grader Bronson Duke rounded out Daviess County’s top five with a sixth-place finish in 18:46.9.

The Panthers also had Joseph Cecil finish ninth at 19:12.6, Alexander Allen take 12th in 19:46.4, Joseph Edge finish 15th in 20:17.4, and Connor Dennison place 21st in 21:00.8.

Daviess County’s girls were also well represented near the front of their race. Freshman Braylen Jenkins finished third in 23:29.2, followed by Anna King in fourth at 24:04.2 and Lillian Kurz in fifth at 24:15.1. The Panthers did not have a team score listed because only three Daviess County runners finished the girls race.

The Mustang Stampede also featured a combined middle school race, with local runners from Burns Middle School and College View Middle School among the field. The race covered 4,000 meters.

The meet also included elementary races, with team trophies awarded to the top two teams in each division and medals going to the top 15 finishers in each race.
