OWENSBORO, KY — Owensboro Catholic captured the All “A” Regional Championship Saturday afternoon, defeating Todd County Central in a penalty-kick shootout after the teams finished regulation tied 1-1 at the Owensboro Catholic High School Soccer Field.

Isaac Self scored Catholic’s lone goal in regulation, with Owen Brey providing the assist.

Catholic controlled much of the attacking play, finishing with 28 shots compared with just four for Todd County Central.

Jace Obermeier made two saves in goal for the Aces, helping keep the match level and sending the championship to a shootout.

After the 1-1 finish, Catholic prevailed in the penalty-kick shootout to claim the regional championship.

The Aces moved to 6-7 on the season with the victory, while Todd County Central fell to 8-4.

Catholic will return to the field Thursday, Sept. 24, traveling to Grayson County for a 5:30 p.m. match at Grayson County High School Field.
