OWENSBORO, KY — Kentucky Wesleyan opened Great Midwest Athletic Conference play with a defensive battle Thursday evening, playing Lake Erie to a 0-0 draw at Panther Field.

The Panthers created several opportunities throughout the match but could not find the breakthrough. Haylie Panter, Henna Gyan, Skylar Gray, Presley Payton and Bailey Brown each recorded shots as Kentucky Wesleyan tested the Lake Erie defense.

Caleigh Meeks came up big in goal for the Panthers, making five saves to preserve the shutout.

Lake Erie goalkeeper Morgan VanMeter also kept Kentucky Wesleyan off the scoreboard, finishing with four saves.

The draw gives Kentucky Wesleyan a 0-4-1 record overall and a 0-0-1 mark in conference play.

The Panthers return to Panther Field Saturday, Sept. 12, when they host Findlay at noon CT.
