Owensboro Dominates Marshall County in 57-7 Road Victory

BENTON, KY — Owensboro turned big plays into points from the opening possession Friday night, racing past Marshall County 57-7 at Traylor Stadium.

The Red Devils needed just one offensive snap to take the lead. Tyson Biggs found Kingston Dillard for a 40-yard touchdown with 9:40 left in the first quarter, and Owensboro never gave Marshall County a chance to settle in.

Biggs connected with Gavin Walker for an 11-yard touchdown later in the quarter, but Marshall County answered immediately when Jett Jones took the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown.

That response didn’t slow Owensboro.

After Marshall County’s Carson Fogg fumbled and the Red Devils recovered at the MCHS 44, Walker went 44 yards for his first rushing touchdown of the night. Walker added another 11-yard touchdown run with 49 seconds left in the quarter, putting Owensboro ahead 28-7 after one.

The Red Devils kept the pressure on in the second.

Biggs and Tre Shemwell connected for an 18-yard touchdown at the 8:08 mark, extending the lead to 35-7. Marshall County then put together a sustained drive, moving into Owensboro territory before Tee Green intercepted Jesse Kinsall at the MCHS 48.

Thirteen seconds later, Green turned the turnover into six points himself, breaking loose for a 48-yard touchdown run.

Owensboro’s defense continued to make plays before halftime. Brody Griffith sacked Kinsall for a 9-yard loss, and Shemwell intercepted another Kinsall pass with 43 seconds remaining in the half.

The Red Devils took a 42-7 lead into halftime.

The pace slowed after the break, but Owensboro continued to control the game. Ty Ashley intercepted Kinsall early in the third quarter, and although a penalty erased the potential return for a touchdown, the Red Devils took over at the Marshall County 31.

Zeke Beehn connected with Ayden Fountain for 23 yards on the ensuing drive before Walker finished it with a 4-yard touchdown run.

That gave Walker four rushing touchdowns on the night, along with his earlier touchdown reception.

Owensboro’s defense closed the game with another disruptive sequence in the fourth. Marshall County was backed up near its own end zone before Nolyn Ingles was tackled in the end zone for a safety, making it 51-7.

The Red Devils then added one final touchdown late in the game. Beehn hit Rishaad Cason for 21 yards down to the Marshall County 1-yard line, and Mikai Kindle finished the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 24 seconds remaining.

Owensboro left Traylor Stadium with a 57-7 victory and moved to 5-2 on the season.
