March 13, 2026 – McCracken County
The Daviess County Varsity Panthers relied on a strong two-pitcher effort Friday to shut out the McCracken County Varsity Lady Mustangs 3-0. Cain and Hume combined to keep the Lady Mustangs off the scoreboard, with Hume recording the final out on a fly ball from Brewer.
Daviess County jumped ahead in the bottom of the second inning when Cain homered to left field, driving in two runs. An error later in the inning allowed a third run to score, giving the Panthers a 3-0 lead that held through the final out.
Cain earned the win, allowing only one hit over four innings while striking out two, and Hume pitched three scoreless innings in relief, striking out four and allowing three hits. McCracken County’s Leidecker suffered the loss, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits in two innings.
At the plate, Cain went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Newman also had two hits. Jarboe stole two bases, and Daviess County’s defense was flawless, committing no errors and turning a key double play. Henry led the team with seven defensive plays.
McCracken County managed four hits, with Butler, Lee, Walker, and Leidecker each contributing one, but the Lady Mustangs couldn’t overcome the strong pitching from the Panthers.
Daviess County travels to Warren East on Saturday for their next matchup.
