BOWLING GREEN, KY — Peter Mbayo added three more goals to his season total Thursday night, scoring a hat trick as Owensboro High School defeated Bowling Green 4-1 at the Bowling Green High School Pit Field.

Mbayo entered the match with 29 goals on the season and left with 32, continuing an impressive scoring season for the Devils. His three goals accounted for most of Owensboro’s offensive production, while Japheti Bavento added the other goal.

Patrick Alexander, Kennedy Payne and Bilombele Ekyochi each recorded an assist for Owensboro.

The Devils entered the match averaging 4.6 goals per game and have now scored 77 goals through 17 games. Mbayo leads the team by a wide margin with 32 goals, while Brian Payne has 15 and Merrick Joska has 12.

Owensboro has now won 14 of its 16 completed games, moving to 14-1-1 on the season. Bowling Green falls to 4-6-2.

Fourteen Owensboro players saw action in the match, including Avidael Diaz Mazariegos, Miles Morrison, Noah Knoop, Filip Smekal and Kaleb Davidson.

The Devils travel to Henderson County on Sept. 28 for a 7 p.m. match. Bowling Green will host Male on Sept. 26 at 12:45 p.m.
