Run for Reform 5K/10K Kicks Off Owensboro Running Season

The 2026 running season got off to a strong start Saturday morning as participants gathered at Kentucky Wesleyan College for the 3rd annual Run for Reform 5K/10K.
With near-perfect weather and a smooth course through campus and surrounding neighborhoods, the event provided an ideal early-season race for both competitive runners and casual participants.
A total of 41 runners took part in the event, including 28 in the 5K and 13 in the 10K.
In the 5K, Miles Yates of Marion claimed the overall male title with a time of 23:18.6, while Sierra Garrison of Owensboro finished as the overall female winner in 24:55.3.
The 10K overall title went to Keaton Boling of Owensboro, who posted a winning time of 37:14.7.
Beyond the results, the race served as a key tune-up for many runners preparing for upcoming events. Participant Angelo Fioravante described it as a fun race and a perfect opportunity to prepare for next weekend’s Wendell Foster Half Marathon.
Hosted by the Chad Lake Foundation, the event continues to support efforts focused on raising awareness and providing resources for individuals and families impacted by incarceration.
With strong community support and ideal conditions, the Run for Reform once again proved to be a solid start to the local racing calendar.
