OWENSBORO, KY — Avery Gray led Apollo High School with 22 kills Thursday night as the Eagles defeated Logan County 3-0 at Apollo, winning 25-21, 25-19 and 25-13.

Apollo entered the match with a 28-3 record and continued its strong season by winning all three sets. Logan County, which came in at 18-12, kept the opening set competitive before Apollo created more separation in the second and third.

The Eagles’ offense was led by Gray’s 22 kills, while Keelan Wettstain added eight and Savannah Denson finished with six kills and a block. Ali Lawson contributed two kills and two blocks, and Kinsley Jackson recorded two kills and three blocks.

Maddi Roberts directed the attack with 38 assists, helping Apollo distribute the ball across its lineup. Wettstain led the team with two service aces, while Gray and Sophia Mason added one apiece.

Apollo also received contributions across the back row. Jessie Pate led the Eagles with 15 digs, followed by Gray with 12 and Wettstain with nine. Lyla Fortener added seven digs, while Roberts recorded four.

Before the match, Gray was recognized for reaching 1,000 career digs, marking a milestone in addition to her contributions at the net. Her all-around performance against Logan County included both a team-high 22 kills and 12 digs.

Apollo will travel to Henderson County on Friday, Oct. 16, for a 6:30 p.m. match. Logan County is scheduled to host Daviess County on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. in the auxiliary gym.
